This Friday: Greg Mitchell to discuss and screen his TWO Woody Guthrie films at Springsteen Center

This coming Friday night, after a successful launch earlier this month with Stevie Van Zandt and The Making of Sun City, The Bruce Springsteen Center For American Music will resume its Music + Film series with esteemed filmmaker and writer Greg Mitchell in the house. In an event entitled Woody Guthrie and the Ghost of Tom Joad Now, Mitchell will discuss and screen his excellent one-hour film Woody Guthrie and the Ghost of Tom Joad Today, which begins and ends with Bruce Springsteen performing "The Ghost of Tom Joad," along with the East Coast premiere of his newer, shorter film Woody Lives!, also featuring Springsteen, as well as Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Tom Morello, Pete Seeger, Mavis Staples, Jeff Tweedy, and Lucinda Williams.
Woody Guthrie and the Ghost of Tom Joad Now will take place this Friday, September 25, beginning at 7:30 pm, in the Springsteen Center's Powell Soundstage theater. It will be hosted by the Center's Executive Director Bob Santelli. Santelli's no slouch in the Guthrie department himself, having written This Land Is Your Land: Woody Guthrie and the Journey of an American Folk Song, co-edited Hard Travelin': The Life and Legacy of Woody Guthrie, and co-chaired the 2012 Woody at 100 programming series.
