PBS News to air and stream BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: FINDING AMERICA IN SONG special for July 4th weekend

On the upcoming Independence Day holiday weekend, which also will mark the U.S. semiquincentennial, Bruce Springsteen and The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University will be featured in a half-hour PBS News special entitled Bruce Springsteen: Finding America in Song. It's an expanded version of PBS NewsHour's recent report on the opening of the Springsteen Center.

According to PBS News' official announcement, the special will examine more deeply "the role music plays in telling the American story and preserving the nation's cultural history as the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding... Hosted by PBS NewsHour co-anchor and co-managing editor Geoff Bennett, the 30-minute special explores Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary career, his lasting impact on American music, and the opening of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University. The special features an extended version of Bennett’s recent conversation with Bruce Springsteen, offering a deeper look at the themes, influences, and experiences that have shaped the artist’s work over more than five decades." The special also will feature more from Bennett's conversations with the Center's executive director Bob Santelli and longtime Springsteen manager Jon Landau.

Bruce Springsteen: Finding America in Song is set to air on PBS stations nationwide at 6:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, July 5, and stream on PBS News' digital platforms beginning at 9 p.m. EDT on Friday, July 3.
