The nugs.net "First Friday" Live Archives series resumes today with another great show from Bruce Springsteen's 2005 Devils & Dust Solo/Acoustic Tour: Buffalo, NY 2005, performed and recorded professionally on July 18, 2005.
The show marked itself as something special from the very beginning, when Springsteen opened with a one-night-only acoustic-guitar/harmonica-backed solo version of "Prove It All Night." As archivist Erik Flannigan writes in his liner-notes for the nugs release, "The song has never been played this way before or since." Two other one-night-only performances for that tour were solo/piano versions of "Leap of Faith" and "You're Missing," along with tour-premiere performances of "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)," "When You're Alone," and "Darkness on the Edge of Town."
